Chemical Peel

At Worldwide Plastic Surgery, our Medical Spa features several types of chemical peel treatments for beautiful, healthy-looking skin. Chemical peels can smooth the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, improve skin tone and texture, and significantly rejuvenate a patient’s appearance. Unlike cosmetic surgery procedures, most chemical peels do not require anesthesia, incisions, or a long recovery period. Light Peel

The light chemical peel is an effective treatment for reducing or eliminating the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, areas of dryness, and other skin conditions. The solution that is applied to the targeted treatment area in a light chemical peel is made up of glycolic, fruit, lactic, or other types of alphahydroxy acids. These gentle chemical compounds remove the dead, outer layers of skin and stimulate the production of new, healthy skin cells. Light chemical peel treatment can be completed in a matter of minutes and patients can resume their normal activities right away with little to no discomfort.

Medium Peel

Medium chemical peels contain trichloroacetic acid, a chemical compound that penetrates more deeply into the skin than the alphahydroxy acids used in light chemical peels. As a result, the medium chemical peel can provide more dramatic rejuvenation and is appropriate for deeper lines and wrinkles. Medium chemical peels are also used to treat age spots and discolored skin.

Deep Peel

The deep or phenol chemical peel is the most effective of the three chemical peels. This treatment can dramatically improve the appearance of deep lines and wrinkles, age spots and other discoloration, and sun-damaged skin. A deep chemical peel can make you look much younger, and the results for this procedure last for many years.

A deep chemical peel does require anesthetic and a healing period of approximately one week. It is important to consider after a deep chemical peel the treated area should always be protected from prolonged sun exposure.
